Hurricane Isaias in Navarre
Isaias made landfall near Destin on October 9, 2026, as a Category 2 hurricane. Navarre is about 30 miles west of Destin.
Navarre reported flooded streets and parking lots and wind damage to homes and buildings. Santa Rosa County officials estimated about $250 million in property damage across the county.
Common Navarre claims after Isaias:
- Shingles and roof decking lost, with rain entering the home.
- Siding, soffits, garage doors and windows damaged by wind.
- Trees fallen onto the roof, fence or vehicles.
- Ceilings, drywall and floors damaged by rain water.
Wind or flood: who pays
A homeowners policy covers wind and rain that enter through storm damage. It does not cover rising flood water. Flood is covered by a separate flood policy, usually through the National Flood Insurance Program.
When a home has both wind and flood damage, insurers often call all of it flood. That moves the cost to the flood policy, which has lower limits and does not cover many items.
Water lines on walls, roof openings, ceiling stains and the order of events during the storm show which damage came from wind. We gather this evidence before repairs remove it.
Santa Rosa Beach and second homes
Santa Rosa Beach, in Walton County along Scenic Highway 30A, has many second homes and vacation rentals. Owners often live out of state and see the damage weeks after the storm.
- Report the claim as soon as you learn of the damage.
- Ask a neighbor or property manager to photograph the home before anything is moved.
- Stop more damage: tarp the roof and dry out water. Keep every receipt.
- Read your policy for vacancy and unoccupancy terms. Insurers use them to limit payment on homes that sit empty.
Mold that grows while a home sits closed up is a common dispute. Many policies cap mold coverage. We review how your policy treats mold that follows covered water damage.

Navarre Insurance Claim?
Frequently Asked Questions
My insurer says my Navarre home was damaged by flood, not wind. Can I dispute that?
Answer: Yes. Roof openings, ceiling stains above the water line and wind damage to the exterior show wind damage. We review the adjuster’s report and the evidence for free.
I live out of state and found the damage weeks after Isaias. Is it too late?
Answer: No. A new hurricane claim can be reported within 1 year of the date of loss. Report it now and document the damage before repairs.
Is Santa Rosa Beach in Santa Rosa County?
Answer: No. Santa Rosa Beach is in Walton County. Navarre is in Santa Rosa County. We represent property owners in both.
Does my homeowners policy cover mold after the storm?
Answer: Many policies cover mold that results from covered water damage, often up to a set limit. Send us your policy and we will review it.
Should I cash the check my insurer sent?
Answer: Read every document first. Do not sign a release or accept a final payment until your claim is reviewed.
